Sachham projects for the Chepang in Chitwan
in cooperation with Laxmi Pratisthan

In order to increase the impact of our work, we are networked with organizations in both Switzerland and Nepal that pursue similar goals.

We also work closely with local organizations as part of our projects. The purpose of these collaborations is to generate more impact locally and to create the best possible framework conditions for the benefit of children and young people by sharing knowledge and experience, even with few resources. We are currently working with the Laxmi Pratisthan Foundation on various project ideas.

School in Kanda (Chitwan, Bagmati Province)

Thanks to a generous donation, we are able to finance a teacher for the eighth grade at the affiliated school in Kanda. With the introduction of the eighth grade, it will be possible for the children at this school to obtain their first state qualification.

Vocational training after finishing school

After finishing school in Kanda and Kavre, the Chepang youths from Kanda have the opportunity to participate in various programs offered by the CH embassy in Kathmandu:

  • Career counseling and vocational guidance for young people, enabling them to choose a vocational course that meets their requirements

  • Participation in various vocational courses. The young people have the opportunity to take part in courses at various training institutions free of charge

  • Certification of professional skills already acquired as part of the RPL program (Recognition of Prior Learning)

This year, the first young people are completing their vocational training as part of the INSURE program. Three young people in Kathmandu and two young people in Chitwan will graduate in hotel management. It is very pleasing that most of them already have job offers. This year, 7 young men will begin their training in various professions (hotel management, IT, engineering) as part of the INSURE program.

training 'Health Worker'

Together with the organization Shanti Med, which runs a hospital in Ratnanagar that was awarded the best regional hospital in Bagmati Province this year, we want to create a training project for women from the region that will primarily benefit the local Chepang population in underserved areas.
